For over two decades I have been meeting with individuals, couples and groups to generate the process of healing restorative change. This relationally dynamic process is ever evolving and yet maintains a reliable constancy. It is compelling to be part of a process in which people, even after great hurt and disappointment, can safely access their vulnerability and regain their courage. In time this enables them to become more intimate with themselves and those they love, and able to pursue their own unique dreams.
I am appreciative of the rich diversity of all human experience, which includes cultural competency and expertise with LGBTQ patients. The creative process has always been an essential resource for me. My training of choice was the Expressive Arts Therapies Program at Lesley College. This international program was at that time, the one and only intermodal creative arts therapy program in the U.S. The training was primarily experiential and right brain dominant. This approach is embedded in my work. I have also been strongly influenced by contemporary and relational psychodynamic theory, Jungian psychology, and attachment based approaches.
I am practical about the slow and deep effort necessary to achieve positive enduring change. Although the impact can be subtle and indirect, it can also be quite specific and sudden like a bolt of lightning, or carefully wrought like an origami paper fold. Language is a worthy conduit. When words need rest, exploration can happen in sandplay, or art, meditation, or active imagination. What may happen in you and between us is full of possibility. I continue to write and lecture. My primary subject of exploration is the intimate dimensionality of the therapeutic relationship. I provide individual and small group supervision.
